A year ago, people around NASCAR were concerned about the kind of defending champion Tony Stewart would be. Stewart accepted the championship trophy at the annual awards banquet on a snowy December evening in New York. Accompanying the trophy was a whole lot of scrutiny about Stewart's ability to be a good champion. Almost immediately after Stewart won the Cup, the Joe Gibbs Racing team switched from Pontiacs to Chevrolets.
