Abstract

The article discusses the highlights of the 1st International Workshop on Rainfall Measurement From Cellular Phone Networks in Africa (Rain Cell Africa) held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from March 30 to April 2, 2015. Topics discussed include rainfall mapping based on the measurement of microwave signal attenuation by rainfall, the benefits of using cellular phone networks for weather observations, and the role of cellular communications networks in water resources management.
