Abstract

The author highlights doctor Holly Thorpe's work titled, "Athletic Women's Experiences of Amenorrhea:Biomedical Technologies, Somatic Ethics and Embodied Subjectivities," as the journal's featured lead article issue of the Sociology of Sport Journal. Topics include the award she received, "SSJ Early Career Researcher Award" from the North American ''Society for the Sociology of Sport'' in 2015, it is given annually for professionals who has completed doctorate degrees and in recognition also to their significant contributions to the sociology of the sportsfield, she has published nearly 50 journal article and book chapters on social theory, gender and action sports and is actively engaged in public sociology and policy development with several international sport organizations.
