Abstract

Provides estimates of race- and sex-specific survival rates of Medicare patients admitted to a hospital in 1984 with a diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. Decline of survival rates with advancing age; Use of Kaplan-Meier estimates of survival functions for diagnosis of pulmonary embolism; Determination of death rate.
