Abstract

In this paper, the full-float cab suspension of a self-dumping truck was taken as research object, and a multi-body dynamics model of the self-dumping truck was built based on virtual prototype technology. Then a road test of ride comfort of the vehicle was implemented to verify the validity of the dynamic model. On this basis, the spring stiffness and damping of cab suspension were optimized for improving ride comfort based on grey relational analysis. Meanwhile, a comparison between GRA and TOPSIS was conducted to illustrate the unique merits of grey relational analysis in multi-objective optimization. Then the optimal combination of cab suspension parameters was verified by ride comfort test. The analysis results indicated that the improvement of ride comfort of self-dumping trucks can be up to 15.69% by using the optimal parameters. Hence, the grey relational analysis was a very powerful method used for optimizing the cab suspension parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
