THE POLITICAL ECONOMY OF SOUTH KOREAN DEVELOPMENT.

The paper analyses South Korean development, which has been hailed as a `miracle' by many scholars. It identifies four factors as necessary to South Korea's economic growth: cheap labour, land reform, the developmentalist state, and the international political economy.
