Abstract

In this article the author opines that the higher education White Paper "Success as a Knowledge Economy" in Great Britain represents a major assault on the idea of a university and its vital public role of facilitating the creation and dissemination of knowledge and debate about common objectives. Topics include the government stated to have promoted higher education only in terms of private investment in human capital and students identified as consumers with purchasing power of tuition fee.
