Abstract

This paper discusses potential impacts of a climate change on forests ecosystems. Climate change can be defined as the long-term fluctuations in temperature, precipitation, wind and all other aspects of the Earth's climate. One of the most important factors determining the Earth's climate is the greenhouse effect. This popular term describes the roles of water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, man-made chlorofluorocarbons and other trace gases in keeping the Earth's surface warmer than it would be otherwise. These radioactively active gases are relatively transparent to incoming short-wavelength sunlight radiation, but are opaque to longer wavelength infrared radiation which arises from the Earth's surface.
