This paper explores the question around: What leads a rational being who has limits to exceed them? The addressing of this question starts from a critical reading of the act committed by Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment a work of Dostoevsky. This base line allows us to make an approach to the concept of freedom in positive and negative terms, thence to determine that the free action involves an intimate relationship with reflective will and that consequently the emergence of damage is the sole responsibility of man in full possession of his freedom.
