Abstract

This essay tries to follow up the presence of Entremez in Brasil through the reconstruction of its historic popularization as a theatrical form, in Portugal during the XVI-XVIII centuries, and of its dissemination as an editorial form that has its origins in the growth of typographical activities and reading practices. This essay points out the presence of Entremez between the published brochures and analyses the way by which the practice of reading printed comedies was determinant for the consolidation of a popular taste, from which the Brazilian comedy was originated. The case of Molière's translations to the Portuguese language gives us an example of the influence of the Entremez upon several writers who have consolidated the success of its popular humor alongside the readers.
