Abstract

The discussion of this paper aims to present proposals on the evaluation of the quality of social capital formed between organizations and stakeholders in their activities as a factor of regional development. Social capital is the set of relational assets that may affect the productive capacity of a social entity, having the structural, relational and cognitive dimensions, which are interrelated. Relationships an organization has with its stakeholders constitute social capital, which quality refers to the potential development they promote in a region. The development of a region is classified in accordance with the prevailing logic of actions taken by local organizations, resulting in a spurious or sustainable development. This study presents three propositions. The first states that the quality of social capital in relations between managers and stakeholders is revealed in the relational and cognitive dimensions. The other propositions affirm that relations between organizations and stakeholders constitute a social capital that promotes a spurious or sustainable development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
