Abstract

Every human being, endowed with a healthy mind and body, at an appropriate age, enters into the normal labour climate. We see everywhere people who work with their arms and minds. Work is an existential dimension of the human being. Depending on how it is designed and built, work has unsuspected potentialities. Some people see the work as their chance to acquire as many material possessions, and considers it as the only source to acquire it, in order to meet their tastes, pleasures, their own convenience or vainglory. Others perceive the work as a tool for acquire the products necessary to satisfy their familial needs. Others see the work that they perform as an opportunity to fulfil their familial obligations, to provide help to those lacking the necessary for an honest and dignified life, and also to contribute to increasing the social welfare. It is worth mentioning an idea that seems to be ignored by a great part of people involved in labour. It wants to remind us about the deeply role of human labour, about his really noble mission. Besides the fact that the work transforms the goods around us, it makes them more accessible and appropriate to increase the quality of social life, it matures which works, by developing the capacities of mind and of will, of memory and of heart, and it ennobles him, by perfecting his personality. Taking into account this fundamental aspect of the work would lead to the creation of sufficient and appropriate jobs for all members of human society, according to their capacities. This effort would greatly remove the spectre of unemployment, which affects large segments of the working age population. Thus, the work would really constitute a true value, a treasure capable of carrying to the happiest fulfilment of the entire human society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
