Abstract
- The article looks at the U.S. military budget and examines how policymakers should approach defense spending. It notes the views of former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates on appropriates for the Department of Defense and also covers budgets under the administration of President Barack Obama. Particular attention is given to the effects of the 2011 Budget Control Act and sequestration measures.
