Fostering integration between biodiversity monitoring and modelling.

An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses various reports published within the issue which include the concept of the Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs), the development of the Species Distribution Models, and the cost-efficiency of monitoring networks sampling technique.
