Abstract

The article describes a series of lessons in which science students investigate the technological and engineering ingenuity involved in making materials and the environmental ramifications. Topics discussed include helping students to make informed choices about materials use and disposal; engaging students in learning about material use and recycling; and calculating of ecological footprint.
