Abstract

Reports on a Vibrio cholerae O139 strain, MO10-T4, lacking capsular polysaccharide, which produces a short-chain lipopolysaccharide (LPS) similar to enterobacterial SR strains. Study of the strain by acidic and alkaline degradation, dephosphorylation, sugar and methylation analysis; Structure proposed for the core region of the LPS; Presence of an O-acetyl group on a secondary position; Additional putative fructose residue contained by some LPS species.
