Abstract

The article discusses the reemerging of the life-threatening tickborne zoonosis caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, the Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF), in Sonora, Mexico. It mentions the epidemiologic emergency declared by the Mexico Ministry of Health (MOH) due to the high and sustained rates of RMSF. It also states the collaboration of the University of Sonora School of Medicine, the Sonora MOH, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce RMSF.
