Abstract

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) functionalized with biocompatible surface find numerous applications in health care sectors including hyperthermia treatment. In the present study, we report the synthesis of nickel ferrite nanoparticles in calcium phosphate nanostructure via hydrothermal assisted wet precipitation method using sucrose as an organic modifier followed by rapid thermal processing. The phase composition, morphology and magnetic properties were further investigated through various characterization techniques. The obtained product exhibits ferromagnetic behaviour with coercivity of 0.045 T at 5 K and the superparamagnetic behaviour with zero coercivity at 300 K which suggests that it may be a potential material for hyperthermia treatment.
