Abstract

The effects of climate change on environment and economy have become one of the most debated issues academically and institutionally. In this respect, it is expected that transition to green economy will reverse or mitigate the negative effects of climate change on environment and general economy. In particularly, ILO and UNEP highlight that green jobs which will be created by green economy should also contain decent job concept. However, creation decent job in green sectors doesn't occur automatically and it needs unionisation and public intervention. In this line, aim of the work explores potentials for creation decent jobs fitting ILO's and UNEP's concepts and increasing the quality of green jobs which will be needed in transition process to green economy. In the study, it is analysed data from British Labour Force Survey and secondary data from the international institutions by using descriptive analysis and Chi square test method. Fundamentally, the paper argues that green sectors offer good opportunities for creation of better jobs and the paper brings in some evidence from British Labour Force Survey. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
