Abstract

There is a stunning exhibition called "Kenya Art" at the Brooklyn Public Library's central building at Grand Army Plaza in New York City. The art can be found in the Grand Lobby, the Lobby Gallery and on the second floor in six display cases in the hall. This artwork by several Kenyan artists includes acrylic on paper painting, woodcuts, photographs and comic strips. The works depict Kenyan natives at work as hunters and gathers, bent over and working hard selling fresh fruits in an open market, picking corn in the field and men discussing issues, all while wearing native dress. There are pieces which are full of hope and beauty, while others have despair, but all show clear emotions and scenes of everyday life.
