Abstract
- The paper deals with the improvement in reading literacy by using selectively targeted process and methodical work on highly specialized texts in the field of Ecology, aimed toward high school students. The extent to which this methodically directed work, based on the use of scientific texts, influences the development of basic reading skills; the level of retention, comprehension, and analytical thinking had been monitored and fully analyzed. The conclusions in the research had been supported with the multitude of empirical data. The results had qualitatively shown strong applicability of the method as an effective teaching tool.
