Osteoporosis and Fracture Risk Evaluation and Management: Shared Decision Making in Clinical Practice.

The authors reflect on shared decision making in clinical practice in connection with osteoporosis and fracture risk evaluation and management practices in the U.S. as of 2017. American public health problems and mortality risk are examined, along with the medical care costs that are associated with osteoporosis-related fractures. Spinal and pelvic fractures are assessed, as well as bone mineral density measurements. The relationships between vitamin D, calcium, and bone health are mentioned.
