Abstract

Criticizes the foreign policy of the United States in which people want the country to get involved in other nations' affairs to show that the U.S. is a superpower but panic and want out at the first hint of casualties. President Bill Clinton as the victim of opinion shifts with regards to the use of American military force; Developments in history which led to the so-called free-lunch foreign policy; Ronald Reagan's defense buildup, paid for with borrowed dollars; Victory in Grenada which created the illusion that military victories can be virtually cost-free; Persian Gulf War.
