Radical reactions of tricyclo[4.1.0.0]heptane and 1-phenyltricyclo[4.1.0.0]heptane with trifluoromethyl (phenylethynyl) sulfone.

The article focuses on findings of a study on radical reactions of tricyclo[4.1.0.02]heptane and 1-Phenyltricyclo[4.1.0.0]heptane with trifluoromethyl (Phenylethynyl) Sulfone. Topics include interaction of tricycloheptanes with trifluoromethyl phenylethynyl sulfone, or triflone, under photochemical and thermal initiation; reaction of triflone with tricycloheptanes under conditions of radical initiation; and formation of norpinane products to the opening of the central carbon-carbon bond.
