Abstract

The article presents a research study related to phototoxicity evoked by alpha-terthienyl. Alpha-terthienyl is a thiophene compound belonging to a class of polyacetylenic compounds naturally occurring in many plants of the chrysanthemum family. Most plants commonly used for patch testing in suspected weed dermatitis contain these compounds. Volunteers for the test were two adult males aged 50 years and one 28 year old adult female. The article contains results of the study. The role of thiophenes and polyacetylenic compounds in `farmer's skin` and in therapy of skin disorders requires evaluation.
