Abstract: The article presents a spectroscopic characterization and in vitro assay of porphyrin derivatives in human blood, focusing on meso-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TPPC)-Jeff and ZnTPPC-Jeff porphyrin derivatives. It explores the hemolytic effect of the two different types of porphyrin derivatives and suggests that visible irradiation does not affect the effectiveness of the compounds in inducing hemolysis.
