Editor's Letter.

An introduction to the journal is presented that focuses on issues related to statistics including a course in regulatory statistics at the Department of Biostatistics at Harvard University, an obituary for Professor Steve Fienberg of Carnegie Mellon University, and criteria for evaluating the utility of sports metrics.
