Abstract

The article discusses the increasing fan following of motion pictures among women in the 1910s in the U.S. Topics discussed include the role that imitation of movie actresses played in the increase in fan following, the works of film theorist Jackie Stacey on this, and the role of movie magazines in creating fans.
