Abstract

The article offers information on rubella and its evolution since diagnosis in the mid-20th century. Topics include symptoms such as fever and red rash leading to serious sickness in the form of measles and death from a bout of smallpox, according to Australian ophthalmologist Norman Gregg, maternal rubella infection causing deafness and congenital blindness; and congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) evolved from the U.S. epidemic in 1964-65 showed damage to almost every organ system.
