This Paper aims to contribute to the comparative studies of Christian communities in contemporary and modern societies. Two communities are analyzed for such aim: one Catholic and one Evangelical. The Catholic one is called Fraternidad Sacerdotal San Pío X; the Evangelical one, Hermanos Libres. This Paper highlights a genetic and ethnographic approach, a perspective that brings out similarities between both groups regarding their positions in the contemporary religious field: the reference to the authority of tradition in specialists' discourse; the sacralization of specific rituals; the ways and the orientation in the transmission of moral values concerning sexuality and gender relations. After drawing analogies and homologies between groups theoretically classified in a marked dichotomy, we have discovered relations and issues that lead to a deep knowledge of both communities and reveal aspects poorly integrated in current debates about religious and cultural diversity in Argentina.
