Abstract
- In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the business cards used by the veterinarians. The material of the study included the business cards collected by the final year students of Selçuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in academic year of 2012-2013. A form was generated for the students to process the information related to veterinarians whose business cards have been collected. In accordance with those forms, 462 samples of business cards from 40 provinces in seven regions of Turkey have been analyzed. It was determined that 435 of the business cards were for clinics, 18 of them were for policlinics, and 9 of them were for animal hospitals; 272 of them were in the center of the provinces, 190 of them were in towns; 326 of them belonged to veterinary surgeons who deal with farm animals and 136 of them belonged to the veterinarians who deal with pets. Besides the institutional information such as name and title of the individuals, names and addresses of the clinics, policlinics and hospitals and phone numbers; some concepts which may lead to unfair competition, languages except for Turkish, the expressions, colors, animal figures and logos which may harm institutional identity are analyzed. It may be claimed, in conclusion, that there is no legislative arrangement related to the business cards used by the veterinarians and the ethical rules should be organized by Turkish Veterinary Medical Association in order to provide unity in the field.
