Abstract
- February 21, will mark the 39th year since El Hajj Malik El-Shabazz popularly known as Malcolm X was gunned down at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City. He used to talk about the honor of being a mother and how the key to the future and the key to humanity, actually, was through the woman. A panel of women will discuss his legacy, and especially his transformation from an abuser of women to a strong and devoted family man. Aisha Al-Adawiya of the Schomburg Center and the Malcolm X Museum is the moderator. Veteran activist Yuri Kochiyama, who tried to aid the fallen Malcolm at the Audubon Ballroom and is presently living in California, will appear via videotape in an interview with Sam Anderson.
