Abstract

The article presents three improvisational theater-based explorations of the poem "Hope" by Emily Dickinson in the English classroom. The authors discuss how they achieved the goal to enable their students converse with the poem. They also describe their use of different methods and tools in the class discussion of the poem, as well as the segments of the lesson such as a play-based activity to explore a big idea.
