Sport Management Internships: Agency Perspectives, Expectations, and Concerns.

Professionals ask many questions when they consider bringing student interns into their organization. Differing perspectives, expectations, and concerns regarding interns exist among agency internship supervisors. The purpose of this article is to address some of these issues and provide prospective student interns and college or university internship coordinators with an increased awareness and understanding of the diverse range of agency internship issues. The author will present information gathered during the selection and supervision of 15 to 20 interns over five years in the event-management field. Additional perspectives will also be provided by current professionals who are working with interns in a variety of areas in the sport industry.
