Abstract

Colombia is the seventh largest sugar producer in the world. Candelaria, a small town where five of the thirteen most important sugar mills in the country are located, has no water to drink: cause water is contaminated and monopolized by sugar. This paper explain how resulted from the agricultural modernization projects between 1945 and 1970 when the government modified the landscape for the exclusive promotion of sugar cane.
