Abstract

Reports that in the aftermath of the 1990 elections, political parties in the United States have moved on to fighting about the meaning of the election and to preparing for the 1992 elections. Republican Party's hope that it would hold its own in the House and to knock off weak Democratic Party incumbents in the Senate; Republican abandonment of its principles and reliance on buoyant presidential popularity ratings; Need for President George Bush to win back the public's and party's trust by firm leadership.
