Topics include the extent to which the societies introduced a dramatic repertoire to commercial theatre, the relationship between theatrical ephemera and performance databases in the modern era, and modernism's relationship with the stage. Also discussed are the factors that contribute to box-office successes and the history of the term "repertoire."
