Abstract

Pseudo-one-dimensional Chevrel compound TlFe 3 Te 3 undergoes a first-order phase transition from paramagnetic to ferromagnetic at T C = 220 K. Here we report a systematic study of magnetization, heat capacity and resistivity on polycrystalline TlFe 3 Te 3 near T C . The enhancements of T C in an external magnetic field and a hydrostatic pressure follow the Clausius-Clapeyron relations. The large enhancement of the T C under the pressure indicates that the unit cell shrinks from para- to ferro-magnetic phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
