Abstract

After months of lobbying by New York officials, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on March 01, 2004, that it has set up a panel to monitor the human health effects of the World Trade Center collapse due to September 11, terrorist attacks in New York City. The panel includes EPA, New York City, academic and medical officials. It will verify that recontamination from HVAC systems hasn't occurred and also improve tracking by workers and residents of post-exposure risks.
