Abstract

An editorial is presented which addresses the potential need to rethink the guidelines for follow-up medical studies for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cancer patients, and it mentions the goal of early detection of second primary disease, distant metastasis, and disease recurrences. According to the article, OSCC patients who participate in follow-up studies should receive benefits such as improved quality of life and chance of cure. Patient anxiety is mentioned.
