Abstract

The article reports on the expansion of the CIA of its covert operations in Afghanistan, as part of its integral role in the counterterrorism strategy of U.S. President Donald Trump. It is inferred that teams of experienced officers and contractors were sent alongside Afghan forces to hunt and kill Taliban militants throughout the country. The assignment is said to have marked the shift of the CIA's role in the country.
