Abstract

The paper presents the original results regarding a computer program for production and reproduction data management in dairy cattle farms, with the statistics module necessary for the farmer's current processing and the genetic improvement of the livestock. The statistics module processes the data entered by the farmer and provides statistical data for several parameters specific to cattle farms, such as: X, ± sx, s, V%, genetic parameters (heritability, correlations, repetability) and the genetic evaluation of the sires, with the BLUP option. The main modules of the application are: user interface (GUI), business logic module (BusinessLogicLayer), the database access module (DataAccesLayer) and the statistics module (SAVC- variance and covariance statistical analysis). The uses programming language, Fox-Pro, is well structured and falls into the SGBDs category. The R.E.M.L. (Restricted Maximum Likelihood) linear programming - which is based on a function maximizing iterative process - was used to estimate the genetic parameters. The program called "C.O.P.&R.G" with the S.A.V.C. option was developed at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Animal Sciences, Iasi, Romania and it addresses farmers and units dealing with production recording and improving dairy cattle.
