Abstract

The article reports on the National Foundation for Educational Research's publication of an "NFER Thinks" paper that outlined the characteristics and advantages of having a standardised or uniform approach to delivering a school-entry or reception baseline assessment. They include validity and reliability, mitigating the effects of external variables, and objectivity and practicality.
