Abstract

Kaposi's varicelliform eruption is a rare and potentially fatal viral infection occurring in patients with preexisting chronic dermatoses. Clinically it is characterized by the rapid onset and evolution of cutaneous lesions with potential dissemination to internal organs, which is considered a medical emergency. Here we report the case of a 19-year-old male with a history of atopic dermatitis, recurrent oral herpes and recent exposure to a sibling that had chickenpox, in which the accurate diagnosis and treatment of the viral infection resulted in an adequate response without sequelae or complications.
