Pregnancy Outcome among Women with Beta-Thalassemia Major in North Sardinia.

The article describes the evolution and pregnancy outcomes in women with beta-thalassemia major in Sardinia. Improvement in the management of a transfusional approach and iron chelation therapy has significantly increased the life expectancy and quality of life of patients with thalassemia. It notes that problems with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is still associated with increased fetal and maternal complications during pregnancy.
