Abstract

A study is presented analyzing blood proinflammatory factors in the Pericardial Fluid (PCF) following cardiac surgery over time. The study found higher matrix metallopeptidase-9 (MMP-9) in blood than in PCF at time 0. It refers increased mast cell chymase activity at 4, 12, and 24 hours in comparison with time 0.
