Abstract

Osteonecrosis is thought to result from the temporary or permanent loss of the blood supply to the bones. The most common symptom is pain which is localized to the affected condyle. The medial femoral condyle is typically affected, the lateral femoral condyle, medial tibial plateau and patella may also be involved. The purpose of this case report is to highlight the importance of osteonecrosis as a cause of post-partum hip, knee and other joint pain and to review the literature in regards to pregnancy as a possible etiological factor. We presented a case of a 25 year old female who presented to us on 20th December 2015 with pain in the right thigh of 10 days duration at the distal half extending up to mid-calf.
