Abstract

Problem of determining the hydrograph of high waters is one of the basic problems in hydrotechnical practice. To define the hydrograph and its peak, regular statistical methods of annual extremes and peaks are commonly used if historical flow data are available, if not, empirical expressions and hydrological models are used. The paper shows the use of a hydrological model EBA4SUB (Event-Based Approach for Small Ungauged Basins), designed to define runoff hydrograph from ungauged basins. Values of high waters of Bistrica river basin (tributary of river Vrbas) obtained with this model will be compared with the results of empirical methods. The quality of the estimated peak values of high waters obtained with the EBA4SUB model will be tested on hydrologically studied profiles of river Vrbas, WS Gornji Vakuf and WS Daljan.
