Abstract

This inquiry is framed in the Project "Institutions, individuals and social transformations. Critical points of intersection and instituting processes in the education of children and young people". In the period 2014-201, the project included, among its objectives, the analysis of the process of institutionalizing compulsory secondary school, taking into account the particularities of the social context in Cordoba and its implications in the daily life of the youth of lower class neighborhoods. The paper seeks to make it visible the tensions and paradoxes which arise in connection with the inclusive sense that making secondary education compulsory entails and the configuration of restricted citizenship for members of the lower class of society, stemming from the deepening of practices of socio-territorial fragmentation and the enforcement of discriminatory security policies in recent years.
