Sahabe Tefsirinde Luğavi Yönelim.

Sahabah (companions) were very careful when commenting on the Qur'an; they used various methods in this regard. As generally expressed, these methods are interpreting the Quran by itself, by Sunnah and by the Arabic Language. This last method, which we can characterize as Tafsir by ra'y (sound opinion), is one of the tafsir methods, frequently applied by sahabah and it has been maintained its effectiveness until today. The mutashabih (allegoricial) and mubham (indefinite) words in the Quranic sciences have been explained by using the data of the Arabic language. This fact has importance in that it shows that the language plays a leading role in Tafsir. Although Sahabah do not possesses the same accumulation of knowledge and culture on the occasion of being mostly Arab, they took into account the vocabulary of language and rhetoric when interpreting the Qur'an because of their familiarity with the fluent, eloquence and rhetoric of the language. Even though the name of the rhetoric was not given in that day in the present sense, they have interpreted the Qur'an as distinguished people, being aware of that. This article will focus on the linguistic tafsir of sahabah and provides their linguistic explanations and istishhad (citing as evidence) on the verses. In addition, it examines the means which they used in the verses they interpret due to their acquaintance with the Arabic language and rhetoric.
